The Ghum Heritage Bungalow is about 100 years old and was built during the British Colonial Era. The bungalow is located beautifully in the middle of sprawling lawn that is surrounded with dense pine forest, tea gardens with the splendid Himalayas in the background. Here, you will hear the gushing waters of the nearby waterfalls pouring from the northern hills and enjoy the luxury of fresh air, night sky full of stars and the golden mellow morning sun rays.

 

Accommodation at Ghum Heritage Bungalow

This two-storey magnificent bungalow has five rooms with attached bathrooms. The wood paneled windows offer beautiful scenic sights of the tea gardens, pine forests and rolling hills. The rooms are well furnished with wooden furniture that gives you a feel of the olden times. All our rooms come with attached western bathrooms with hot water geysers, comfy beds and all amenities needed for a cozy stay. Some of our rooms have fire places too. The kitchen serves garden fresh organic foods and home-cooked local cuisines are also available. The dining area is separate.

 

How to reach Ghum Heritage Bungalow

The Ghum Bungalow is 15 kilometers from Darjeeling, 10 kilometers from Ghum, 70 kilometers from Siliguri, 31 kilometers from Mirik, 08 kilometers from Lepchajagat and 11 kms from Sukhiappkhri.

The closest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and the nearest rail head is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). From NJP, you can hire a prepaid taxi to Ghum Heritage Bungalow. You can either travel via Mirik that takes 3.5 hours or you can go via Kurseong, which takes more than 4 hours. The Mirik route is more scenic of the two. There are some local buses available from Siliguri and Darjeeling to Sukhiapokhri, form where you would need a pick-up service to the bungalow.

 

Attractions of Ghum Bungalow

Darjeeling, Mirik, Lepchajagat and Kurseong – these are nearby towns that can be easily visited in day trips from here. Nearby hill town of Sukhiapokhri is the spot for taking the Sandakphu Trek, so trekkers can also stay at Ghum Heritage Bungalow after completing their trek to Sandakphu. You can also visit Pashupati Nath Market (presently in Nepal) for buying some local ware. It is in the India-Nepal border area and is 45 minutes from Ghoom Heritage Bungalow. Lepchajagat is another nearby village to visit, which is only 08 kilometers from this Heritage Bungalow.

There is a plethora of activities in and around Ghoom Heritage Bungalow. Apart from local sightseeing options, guests can can watch and participate in the process of tea making that involves tea plucking, tea processing and tea tasting in nearby tea estates and tea factories. There are various trekking and hiking exploration trips to nearby reserve forest areas and mountain top villages. Bird watching is also a popular activity here with a variety of exotic bird species that thrive in this region. Also, Camping at Balason riverside and hiking to nearby waterfalls can be on your “to-do list” while staying in our bungalow. If you are visiting us in the winters, then you may also experience snowfall at nearby Pubung Fatak.
