Recently, renovated with all modern amenities and a solarium, this heritage Lava bungalow has been prepared for the guests who yearn to stay amidst nature and peace. The lively hilly hamlet of Lava is a gateway to the Neora Valley Forest so while staying at our bungalow, guests can take day trips to various viewpoints and settlements within Neora Valley like Kolakham, Rishyap and Loleygaon. Guests can enjoy activities like bird watching tours to Neora valley, mountain biking in the vicinity, visit local tea factories or they can simply pick a book from our collection and spend their afternoons delving into the intricacies of spirituality and geopolitics.

Accommodation in Lava Bungalow

Built nearly a century ago and renovated recently, this bungalow holds the charm of the early “Burra Sahib Bungalows” of the Hills with a tinge of modernity. A lush lawn with garden benches, wooden Floors, fireplaces and High back chairs surely makes for a time travel experience whereas the newly made sun room with its large floor-to-ceiling glass windows gives the guests the opportunity to have an uninterrupted view of the rolling hills from the comforts of their couch. There are 05 Double bed rooms in our bungalow, a dining hall and a lounge with fireplace. There are few quaint corners where guests can pull back a chair and start reading a book. We do not have Televisions in rooms but we do have a large view screen in the lounge where guests can enjoy some classic movies and documentaries. Some of our rooms have private balconies while others have wall to wall windows. All our rooms come with attached western bathrooms with hot water geysers, comfy beds and all amenities needed for a cozy stay.

How to reach Lava Bungalow

The nearest rail head to Lava is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and the nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB). Its almost 110 kms from NJP or IXB and takes around 3.5 hours to reach. We can arrange pick-up from our bungalow or guests can come via Kalimpong in private taxi services.

Attractions around Lava bungalow

There is a plethora of attractions in and around Lava. Guests should not miss the majestic Lava Monastery, Changey Waterfalls and the canopy walk of Loleygaon through age-old towering trees. A trip to the nearby villages of Kolakham and Rishyap which are located on the fringes of Neora Valley Forest and a short trek from Lava to Rishyap would be very rewarding for nature lovers.

Activities at Lava Bungalow

We have a few Mountain bikes to spare for our adventure seeking guests, who can try out Mountain Biking in the nearby trails of our bungalow and tea estate. Guests can also visit the Tea Factory and participate in tea tasting sessions. Neora Valley is famous for birds and butterflies, so guests having some interest in bird watching and butterfly tracking would surely have a memorable experience here. We also arrange for outdoor lunch in nearby riverbeds and campfire in the evenings. Short nature treks in the adjacent hills and viewpoints, village walks and visits to village schools are few other activities to be enjoyed during the stay.
